Around 10-12 lakh candidates compete to secure clerical jobs through the SSC CHSL Examination each year. In SSC CHSL, there is a two-tier examination structure, out of which the preliminary examination holds the maximum weightage i.e. 200 marks. Owing to the fact that the marks in the descriptive examination are highly unpredictable, the CHSL Tier I examination becomes highly important.

Tips to Ace Maths Section in SSC CHSL PRE Examination

  • Arithmetic: The majority of the questions framed in the SSC CHSL Examination are from the arithmetic section. The level of questions varies from easy to moderate. The chapters like Profit & Loss, Averages, SI & CI, and Ratio & Proportion form the majority of questions from the arithmetic Maths. However, in arithmetic questions, it is more about solving the questions faster than just solving them. As most of the arithmetic questions are straightforward but how quickly you solve them is what matters. Hence, you should pay special attention to various tricks, formulas, and approaches to solve arithmetic questions faster. 

 

  • Geometry & Mensuration: In the CHSL Pre Examination, the weightage of Advance Maths questions has increased a bit in recent years. Now around 3-4 questions are being asked from Geometry & Mensuration itself in Pre Examination of SSC CHSL. Nevertheless, you don’t need to dig much deeper in Advance Maths as the level of questions is quite easy. Moreover, the questions asked in SSC CHSL are formula-based and can be solved easily if you know the formulas and identities. 

 

  • Trigonometry: Around 2-3 questions are usually asked from Trigonometry in the SSC CHSL Examination. However, the level of questions is again easy to moderate. These trigonometry questions can be easily solved by angle putting, short tricks, and trigonometry identities. Hence, again you should just focus on the basics of the chapter then giving it too much time. 

 

  • Algebra & Number System: In SSC CHSL, around 2-3 questions are asked from Algebra, whereas 1 question is usually asked from Number System. But again the questions are quite straightforward, and one can easily solve them even if he learns the basics of the chapter. Therefore even the basics of the Advance Maths chapter would be enough for SSC CHSL Pre Examination.

  • DI: The Data Interpretation questions asked in the SSC CHSL Examination at times can be calculative. It is more about your calculation skills in the DI questions than knowledge since the concepts of DI are easy to understand.
